Leuterod

Leuterod is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Wirges.

Geography

Geographical location

Immediately adjacent locations are Moschheim the southeast, Ötzingen in the Northeast, the West and Siershahn Wirges in the southwest. Together with the first two municipalities bordering Leuterod the east by the Malberg, with 422 m above sea level. NN is the most striking survey of the landscape north of Montabaur. The lower village and the island: - by Roder people reading - divided into two "areas " through the town of Aubach, which the municipality is flowing.

History

The story Leuterods goes back very far. On the show floor Malberg findings, the existence of a Celtic ring wall ( place of worship ), which was built around 800-600 BC on the Malberg.

Leuterod is mentioned in a document for the first time in 1362 lutereide as de Wendel. Somewhat earlier, already in 1311, the district hosting, mentioned as Hovesteden. Leuterod and host were at this time in Montabaurer parish ( parish ), which the gentlemen of St. Florin in Koblenz had the tithe. 1563 were counted in Leuterod 12 " fireplaces " (family). 120 years later, due to the terrible effects of the Thirty Years' War, it was just one more. According to legends, the town was completely destroyed during this period and rebuilt at another location. The Altendorfer way, is to this legend, be the path to the old location of the place. Until 1803 Leuterod was kurtrierisch, then came to the Duchy of Nassau, and thus then in 1866 to Prussia.

It is also essential that already in 1563 a heritage mill ( flour mill) is mentioned in the community Leuterod.

Religion

The vast majority of the population is Roman Catholic. In the village is a Catholic parish church of St. Joseph ( Diocese of Limburg). The 120 evangelical Christians are looked after by the Evangelical Martin Luther Church community Wirges that belongs to the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau.

The local council in Leuterod consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: "Through a fallen stepped gables shared by Green and Silver: From the lower plate edge growing a lily stalk in confused colors; covered the bottom of a wavy red bar; accompanied the upper right and left of each of a silver rose with silver sepals and a golden slugs ".

Traffic

  • To the east of the site the B 255 runs the Montabaur and Rennerod connects.
  • The nearest motorway junctions are Mogendorf and Montabaur, both approximately five kilometers of the A3 between Cologne and Frankfurt am Main.
  • The nearest InterCityExpress stop is the railway station at Montabaur the high-speed line Cologne-Rhine/Main.
