Lev Blatný

Lev Blatný (* April 11, 1894 in Brno ( Brno), † June 21, 1930 in Kvetnica in Poprad ) was a Czech poet, writer, theater critic and playwright.

He came from a family of musicians from Brno. From 1915 to 1918 he was a soldier in Galicia, Bukovina, Transylvania and Albania. After the war, he finished his studies at Juridikum in Prague (Praha) and was in Brno official at the Czech Railways. Shortly thereafter, he began his theater work, first as a dramatist. He tried to bring significant new works by local and foreign artists on the stage.

As a young man he published poems and short prose, then the theater was his home and he wrote numerous reviews. His first work was starry sky ( Hvězdné obloha ), listed in the theater in Brno. This was followed by the spectacle of three ( Tři ) and the comedy Kokoko - Dak, which was his most popular work. He also wrote some expressionistic stories. He died of tuberculosis.
