Lev Lagorio
Lev Lagorio Felixowitsch (Russian Лев Феликсович Лагорио; born June 16, 1828 in Feodosiya, † November 17, 1905 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian painter.
Life
Lagorio was born in Feodosia and studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. His teachers were Maxim Vorobiev and BP Villeval'de. He was influenced at the beginning of Ivan Aivazovsky and especially his seascape paintings. 1845 Lagorio went on board the warship Grosjaschtschi to study the structure of the ship detail. Later he went to Italy for eight years. The images that emerged there, earned him the rank of professor, when he returned to Russia. In later years he painted mainly the coasts of Finland and Norway as well as motifs from the Russo- Turkish War.
Lagorios works can be seen in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
