Levator muscle

Levator is the name of several muscles:

• Levator anguli oris, the mouth angle lifter
• Levator ani, the after lift
• Levator labii superioris, the upper lip lift
• Levator labii superioris nasi alaeque, the lifter of the upper lip and the nose wing
• Levator palpebrae superioris, the lift of the upper eyelid
• Levator scapula, the shoulder blade lifter
• Levator veli palatini, the soft palate lifter
• Musculi levatores costarum, the ribs lifter

Levator syndrome is a colloquial term for the following syndromes

• Levator ani syndrome, also called levator ani, an anorectal pain syndrome with spontaneous seizures in the levator ani muscle (partly synonymous with Proctalgia fugax used )
• Levator scapula syndrome, painful stiffening of the levator scapulae with reduced mobility in the shoulder and neck area
