Levator muscle
Levator is the name of several muscles:
- Levator anguli oris, the mouth angle lifter
- Levator ani, the after lift
- Levator labii superioris, the upper lip lift
- Levator labii superioris nasi alaeque, the lifter of the upper lip and the nose wing
- Levator palpebrae superioris, the lift of the upper eyelid
- Levator scapula, the shoulder blade lifter
- Levator veli palatini, the soft palate lifter
- Musculi levatores costarum, the ribs lifter
Levator syndrome is a colloquial term for the following syndromes
- Levator ani syndrome, also called levator ani, an anorectal pain syndrome with spontaneous seizures in the levator ani muscle (partly synonymous with Proctalgia fugax used )
- Levator scapula syndrome, painful stiffening of the levator scapulae with reduced mobility in the shoulder and neck area
