Levi Pawling

Levi Pawling (* July 25, 1773 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, † September 7, 1845 ) was an American politician. Between 1817 and 1819 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Levi Pawling attended the common schools and then the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After studying law and its 1795 admission to the bar he began to work in Norristown and Philadelphia in this profession. At that time he was also a trustee of the members of the University of Pennsylvania estate. In 1816 he was chairman of a commission to organize funds for the construction of locks on the Schuylkill River. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1816 Pawling in the second electoral district of Pennsylvania was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Hahn on March 4, 1817. Until March 3, 1819, he was able to complete a term in Congress. In 1818, Levi Pawling was also mayor of Norristown. He was also a board member of Bank of Montgomery County. He died on 7 September 1845 in his hometown of Norristown.
