Libor Pivko

Libor Pivko ( born March 29, 1980 in Nový Jičín, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga since May 2013.

Career

Libor Pivko began his career as a hockey player in the junior section of the HC Slezan Opava, for the first team, he made his debut in the Extraliga in the 1998/99 season. He had one assist in five games. The following two seasons spent the winger in the league rivals HC Havířov, in which he was able to fight for a regular place. Due to his consistent performances he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the third round as a total 89 players from the Nashville Predators. First, he remained on in the Extraliga, in which he took from 2001 to 2003 for the HC Zlín.

From 2003 to 2006 Pivko stood in the American Hockey League for the Milwaukee Admirals, the farm team of the Nashville Predators, on the ice and won with his team in the season 2003/ 04 the Calder Cup. His single use of the National Hockey League, the Czech was also during the 2003/ 04 season. In the summer of 2006, the former Under-20 Junior World Champion returned to his homeland, where he received a contract with HC Pardubice, for whom he played in the next four years. With Pardubice 2007 he became first runner-up, before he won the Czech championship with his team in the season 2009/10. At this success he had with a plus / minus score of 21, which was the best value of all extra league player in the main round, large proportion.

For the season 2010/11 Pivko was committed by the newly formed Slovak club HC Lev Poprad from the Kontinental Hockey League. As this did not take up the game mode, Pivko returned to Pardubice. In December 2010 he left Pardubice again when he was hired as a replacement for Peter Mikuš of Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. At the end of the season he moved within the KHL to HK Dinamo Minsk and completed in the next two years, more than 90 KHL game appearances for the club. He was then obliged by HC Kometa Brno in May 2013.

Internationally

For Pivko Czech Republic took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 2000, in which he became world champion with his team.
