Libya (mythology)

Libya ( Latin, Greek Λιβύα or Λιβύη Libye ) is a figure in Greek mythology.

She is a daughter of Epaphos and the Memphis and thus a granddaughter of Io and is the mother of Belus.

She was eponymous for Libya, the ancient name of North Africa between Egypt, Aithiopia and Atlantic, which again derives the name of the modern state of Libya.
