Lidiya Alfeyeva

Lidija Nikolaevna Alfejewa (Russian Лидия Николаевна Алфеева, English transcription Lidiya Alfeyeva, . Born January 17, 1946 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Soviet long jumper.

Career

Alfejewa was from 1974 to 1976 for three consecutive times Soviet Champion in the long jump. In 1975 and 1976 she also secured the title in the Soviet Indoor Championships. Internationally, it first appeared at the European Athletics Championships 1974 in Rome in appearance, where she finished sixth with a width of 6.54 m. On the winner Ilona Bruzsenyák from Hungary she missed 11 cm.

After Alfejewa had become at the Indoor Athletics Championships 1975 in Katowice with 6.29 m Second behind the Romanian Dorina Cătineanu (6.31 m), it secured at the 1976 Indoor Athletics Championships in Munich with 6.64 m the title. In the same year they celebrated the most important success of her career at the Olympic Games in Montreal. With a length of 6.60 m, she won the bronze medal behind the East German Angela Voigt ( 6.72 m) and the US-American Kathy McMillan (6.66 m). In the 1980 Olympics she was only eighth with 6.71 m, while they exceeded all medal winners, the 7- meter mark.

Lidija Alfejewa is 1,70 m tall, weighed to their active 62 kg and launched for CSKA Moscow.
