Kathy McMillan

Kathy McMillan ( Kathy Laverne McMillan, born November 7, 1957 in Raeford, North Carolina) is a former American long jumper.

In 1975, she took the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Mexico City.

With the U.S. record of 6.78 m, she qualified for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where they at 6.66 m silver medal behind Angela Voigt from the GDR ( 6.72 m ) and before Lidija Alfejewa from the Soviet Union (6.60 m) won.

In 1979 she triumphed at the Pan American Games in San Juan. The following year, the U.S. Olympic boycott prevented participation in the Olympic Games in Moscow; Instead, they won the alternatively held Liberty Bell Classic.

In 1983 she was able to defend the title at the Pan American Games in Caracas.

1976 and 1979 it was U.S. champion outdoors, 1977 and 1979 in the hall.
