Lilium ledebourii

Lilium ledebourii (Persian: سوسن چلچراغ, " Susan -e- chelcheragh " ) is a species of the genus Lilium (Lilium ) in the section Liriotypus. The species is considered endangered.

Description

Lilium ledebourii is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 50 to 150 centimeters. The yellow onions are oval and reach a diameter of about 5-7 cm, they are highly segmented, the scales are lanceolate.

The stalk is hard and straight. The upright on the edge finely hairy leaves are linear to lanceolate and 10-14 cm long and 1-2 inches wide and along the venation on the underside papillose.

The plant flowers in June and July 1-15 in a raceme, nodding, fragrant flowers. The standing of up to 13 centimeters long pedicles hermaphrodite flowers are in threes, the bracts lanceolate and blue at the top. The six arranged bloom ( tepals ) are strongly bent back to form a tiara 4-6 cm in diameter. The basic color of the flowers is white, towards the base green, crowded through purple to Tepalspitze in the middle. The filaments are green and the pollen bright red. The seeds ripen until September 3 to 4.5 cm long and 2.5 to 3.2 cm wide, ovate and nearly reversed hexagonal bolls zoom and germinate delayed - epigeal.

Dissemination

The species is endemic to a small area in the Talysh Mountains and in the frontier of Iran and Azerbaijan and Amarlu (Iran) at altitudes around 2100 m. In northern Iran ( Amarlu ) is a 0.6 -hectare conservation area was created for them.

Lilium ledebourii needs a dry, sunny position on well-drained soil, it is very susceptible to moisture.
