The Lillach is the left source stream of the Aubaches in the Franconian Switzerland.

Geography

Lillachquelle

The Lillach just East of Weißenohe and south of the mandrel mountain ( 503 m ) of a karst spring which is at least 24, mean of 50 and a maximum of 108 l / s distributed. The water swells to 463 m above sea level. NN from a small cave in the Upper Jurassic of the Franconian Alb. Catchment area are immediately east lying plateaus.

Over the Easter holidays the Lillachquelle is decorated as an Easter fountain.

Course

The Lillach flows according to their source via sinter terraces or sintering stages called Kalktuffformationen. The creek joins after nearly 3 kilometers west run downward on the outskirts of Weißenohe with the coming of the north, a little longer Kalkach to flowing to the southwest Aubach.

Creature

The Lillachtal is a high quality habitat. Over 120 species of butterflies and many rare beetles make the valley a valuable treasure of nature. In the area of ​​Kalkquellen and Tuffkaskaden live many rare and endangered animal and plant species that are adapted to the cold and nutrient-poor environment. So the Lillachtal is, inter alia, a refuge for the fire salamander, the dippers and the Two Striped source maid and rare plant species such as the musk or Milzkraut thrive admirably here.

The source drive is the Lillach Franconian Switzerland Nature Park Veldenstein Forest since 1995 part of the zone.
