Limbo Messiah is the fifth studio album by Beatsteaks. It was published on 30 March 2007 as a Deluxe Edition including the DVD Demons Galore and as "normal" album release. The album debuted at # 3 in the German album charts and earned the band their highest chart position to date.

Formation

Singer Arnim Teutoburg- White said in an interview shortly after the album's release, that the long time interval of three years between Smack Smash and the new record was not in the spirit of the band. Work on the published end of 2005 DVD B-side, personally designed the band had but taken huge amounts of time and led to the delay. Limbo Messiah as the previous turn, recorded live and produced by Moses Schneider, however, to a large extent in Hamburg, as the favorite of the band's studio in Berlin was occupied. To select the album title says drummer Thomas Goetz: " We always thought Limbo Messiah, that sounds funny. And little by little we discovered more and more meanings because Limbo yes can mean quite different things: First, the dance Limbo, then Limbo is also a computer language, and last but not least the first atrium is hell, where children are punished with boredom referred to as Limbo. Since we just thought, but everything fits great, sounds great, sounds fun. "

Style

Overall, the sound on Limbo Messiah is a bit darker than on the previous Smack Smash, but also more varied. Some songs, such as Sharp, Cool & Collected or Demons Galore, are characterized by rapid, aggressive punk rock, it is found but with Cut Off the Top, a offbeat -heavy track and She Was Great one of Arnim Teutoburg- White in the falsetto style song sung. Arnim Teutoburg- White himself says about the album: " It's not like a sunny album like Smack Smash, it is clearly more aggressive, almost bitchy sometimes. This is something we have not done in our cosmos before. "

As with Smack Smash other band members may take on some vocals. So drummer Thomas Goetz sings the chorus of the single Jane Became Insane and guitarist Peter Baumann, the verses of the song EGO.
