Limburg-Staffel–Siershahn railway

The railway line Limburg Relay Siershahn is a railway line between Limburg- Season, Montabaur and Siershahn in the Westerwald.

Also known as Unterwesterwald railway line runs through the states of Rhineland -Palatinate and Hesse.

History

The Rhenish Railway Company ( RhE ) planned the route and also received the concession for them. When they opened up Season on May 30, 1884 already the Prussian State Railways took over the operation of the RhE, and the Prussian State Railway owned was finally on 1 January 1886.

In season the Under Westerwaldbahn culminated in the State railway Hadamar Limburg. In Siershahn the built together with the sub Westerwaldbahn Brexbachtalbahn branches off, it connects to the right Rhine line.

Operation

While the German Federal Railroad ceased passenger services on the wooden roller coaster brook to 1 June 1984, operate on the subsequent sub Westerwaldbahn to date passenger trains. Due to an accident at a railroad crossing near Girod, the route was to Montabaur heavily damaged on September 30, 2011 at a length of 7 km. A portion of the time required for the repair concrete sleepers was transported by a freight train steam locomotive in the railway museum Hanau over the Taunus to Steinefrenz station. After restoring the route the train service was resumed on 19 October 2011.

Future

The purpose of association of passenger transport Rhineland- Palatinate North ( North SPNV ) announced on October 31, 2012, the result of the started in 2011 service tenders in the diesel power Eifel -Westerwald victory known. The Hessian State Railway was awarded the contract for the operation of the Westerwaldbahn August 2015 to December 2030.
