Lindsay Benko

Lindsay Benko ( born November 29, 1976 in Elkhart, Indiana) is a former American swimmer and two-time Olympic gold medalist.

Career

At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, she won the U.S. swimming relay gold medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle. Four years later at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens, she was able to repeat 200m freestyle and also still win the silver medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay with the success of 4 ×.

With the World Swimming Championships 2003 in Barcelona, she won three medals ( two gold and one silver) and could improve the U.S. record over 200m freestyle.

Benko studied at the University of Southern California and scored numerous NCAA titles in high school sports. She married in 2005 the Canadian swimmer Mike Mintenko.
