Linköpings FC

Linköpings FC ( Linköpings Fotboll Club ) is a Swedish women's football club from Linköping. The club was founded in 2003, as an investment in the Topfußball by BK Kenty DFF and the Hockey Club Linköpings HC. Linköpings FC plays in the Damallsvenskan, the highest league for women in Sweden.

History

Before the 2004 season, the internationals Hedvig Lindahl, Anna- Kaisa Rantanen, Josefine Öqvist and Sara Larsson were brought to Linköping. In the first season in the Damallsvenskan one came already on the sixth and scored in the game against Umeå IK an attendance record with 6,359 visitors. In the 2006 national player Frida Östberg was added, the one hiring away from the master Umeå IK. In the storm strengthened the team with the American Tiffeny Milbrett and finished third in the league. In October 2006, Linköpings FC won its first title: In the Swedish Cup final, the women from Linköping won the champions Umeå IK 3-2 and brought the players from the north the only defeat of the year. Linköping in 2008 was runner-up and won the trophy for the second time. In 2009, the "Double" was achieved with league and cup.
