Lipps, Inc.

Lipps, Inc. was an American disco studio band from Minneapolis, consisting of Steven Greenberg and Cynthia Johnson, whose name ( sing lip- sync with playback ) as a pun on the term lip-sync was designed. They ended 1980 with their song Funkytown a number -one hit in Germany, Switzerland, Australia and the USA. This was also her greatest success. With the follow-up singles Rock It (1980 ), How Long (1981 ), Hold Me Down ( 1982) or Addicted to the Night ( 1983) reach them only minor successes, mainly in the American dance and R & B charts. Ultimately, they lined up in the category of one- hit wonder.

Funkytown was covered in 1987 by the Australian band Pseudo Echo. Similarly, there is a recording of the tape Global Kryner.
