Lisa Kelly

Lisa Ann Kelly (Irish Laoise Ní Cheallaigh, born May 7, 1977 in Dublin, Ireland) is a singer of classical and Celtic music. She was part of several musical and theater productions. She was a founding member of the group Celtic Woman.

Previous years

Kelly was born in a musical family. Her parents and sisters are also singer or singers. She started to sing in the musical version of Bugsy Malone at the age of seven years. Her parents advised her acting and singing with piano study.

Music career

She had some roles as the " Velma Kelly" in Chicago, "Florence" in Chess, " Laurey " in Oklahoma!, " Maria" in West Side Story and "Sandy" in Grease.

She also had concerts in the National Concert Hall, Dublin; including The Magic of Gershwin, The Music of Cole Porter and From Romberg to Rodgers. She has won several national awards for singing and acting.

Riverdance

After a professional activity in the computer industry, she returned to theater and played the lead role in Christmas pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Gaiety Theatre. This earned her an audition for American production of Riverdance - The Show as a female lead vocals in 2000. She toured five years. During the tour, she met the Australian dancer Scott Porter, whom she later married. She learned in that time also the singer Lynn Hilary know that took the place of Méav Ní Mhaolchatha in the group Celtic Woman in 2007.

Kelly was one of the Riverdance singers who the 'Cloud Song' sang at the opening ceremony of the 2003 Special Olympics.

Solo album

2002 Kelly was asked by director David Downes, whether they would record a solo album. Their debut album, Lisa was published in 2003 by Celtic Collections label.

Celtic Woman

2004 Downes met again approached Kelly and asked her if she wanted to be part of Celtic Woman. Actually, only a single appearance in the Helix Theatre in Dublin was planned. Since then, the group has released several albums and DVDs of her world tours.

2009 Lisa Kelly sang the theme song If You Believe from the Disney movie Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure. Lisa was one of the four involved Celtic Woman - the violinist Máiréad Nesbitt other, musical director and composer David Downes, and former member and singer Méav Ní Mhaolchatha.

In December 2011, Kelly announced that she would not participate in the Believe Tour 2012 due to her pregnancy. She was represented by Susan McFadden, the younger sister of Brian McFadden.
