Lisors

Lisors is a commune with 350 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. The municipal area is the monastery Mortemer, which was built from 1138 and consecrated in 1209.

Geography

Lisors is located in northern France in the landscape Vexin, 83 kilometers north- west of Paris, about 12 kilometers northeast of Les Andelys, the seat of sub-prefecture of the arrondissements, and 5.2 kilometers south-west of Lyons- la- Forêt, the capital of the canton, on a average height of 120 meters above sea level. The Mairie stands at a height of 74 meters. Neighboring communities of Lisors are Rosay -sur- Lieure in the Northwest, Lyons- la -Forêt in the northeast, southeast and Touffreville Coudray in the west. The municipality has an area of 1075 hectares. The village is situated on Fouillebroc, a tributary of the Lieure. The monastery is in the hamlet Mortemer northeast of the village.

The municipality is one of the type Cfb climate zone ( Köppen and Geiger after ) assigned: Warm Temperate rain climate ( C ), fully wet ( f), the warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C ( b). There is a maritime climate with moderate summer.

History

Not far from the train station of Fouillebroc Stone Age stone tools from flint was the orographic left bank found. A socketed ax from the Late Bronze Age (1300-800 BC) Lisors is now exhibited in the museum of Évreux.

In the hamlet Mortemer 1870 sarcophagi dating from the Merovingian period ( 486-751 ) were found in the year.

The name was first documented in 1190 in a document.

For the period 1480-1497 there is documentary confirmation that Thomas Sureau was Seigneur of Lisors and Farceaux. He also had a seat in the Parlement of Normandy in Rouen. His son was leading scorer at the Parlement, he died in 1514. Thereafter, the Seigneurie changed hands several times. In the 17th century there was a manor house in Lisors to the 1728 also included a seigneuriale chapel. To 1758 the manor and the lands were sold again. The new owner had a castle instead of the mansion building. Despite the French Revolution (1789-1799), the castle remained in the possession of his descendants until the end of the 19th century.

1793 Lisors received in the course of the French Revolution the status of a municipality and 1801 by the administrative reform in the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821 ) under the name Lizors the right to local self-government.

Culture and sights

Patron saint of the church Saint- Martin is St Martin of Tours. The church was built in the 11th century, but there are only a few traces of the original building preserved. The nave was rebuilt in 1492. The church tower and the sacristy were restored in the 19th century. In the ancien régime the seigneur of the village held the church patronage. In 1935, the church was listed as a protected site Inscrit.

The ornate confessional of the church dates from the monastery Mortemer and was manufactured in the 18th century. It is made of oak wood.
