List of national parks of Morocco

At present there are ten national parks in Morocco.

National Parks

  • Toubkal National Park The 380 km ² Toubkal National Park was established in 1942 as the first national park of Morocco. The park is located in the High Atlas and includes the highest mountain in North Africa, the 4,167 m high Mount Toubkal. Larger mammals of the park are Barbary apes and mane sheep.
  • National Park Tazekka This second National Park in Morocco was founded in 1950. He originally covered an area of 68 km ², around the 1.980m high Jabal Tazekka, which is located in the Middle Atlas. It was extended to 128 km ² to more forests and cave systems with the largest stalactite cave ( grotto Friouato ) to protect North Africa in 1989. 1993 here the Barbary red deer were reintroduced.   • Souss Massa National Park This 340 km ² national park on the Atlantic coast in south-west Morocco comprises desert areas in the mouth of the Oued Sous and Oued Massa.   • National Park of Al Hoceima This 470 km ², created in 2001 National Park is located on the Mediterranean coast and close large parts of the sea, therefore, also with a.
