List of Nobel Peace Prize laureates

The Nobel Peace Prize is an award for outstanding service in peace work. It was donated by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. This award has been awarded since 1901 every year on the anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel, December the 10th, in Oslo.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to 2013 a total of 126 victories, went 86 awards ( 68.3 percent) men, 15 ( 11.9 percent) women and 25 ( 19.8 percent) of organizations. In this case, the International Committee (ICRC ) on three occasions (1917, 1944 and 1963 ) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees office of the Red Cross was twice (1954 and 1981 ) winners. Thus, 22 organizations have received at least a Nobel Peace Prize. So far no one has been repeatedly awarded. From the thus 123 different winners were 69.9 percent men, 12.2 percent women and 17.9 percent of organizations.

Of the total of 64 peace prizes were awarded undivided, 49 times and 14 times to a person to an organization. A total of 28 times the Nobel Peace Prize on two price support was split, of which 20 times on two people, two times on two organizations and six times on a person and an organization. Only twice (1994 and 2011 ), the prize was split between three people.

Already 19 times so far been awarded no prize winners, as often as any of the other Nobel prizes. For the first time this happened in 1914 and most recently in 1972.

By 1990, the Nobel Peace Prize in contrast to the other Nobel prizes no official award statement was called. Therefore, the activity is noted in these years in the ground, which is assumingly the cause for the award.
