List of presiding bishops of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America

The Presiding Bishop is Primate of the Episcopal Church in the United States. With the exception of the first Presiding Bishop, William White, to 1926, the senior bishop of the Church was also Presiding Bishop. Since then, he is elected by an electoral process in which all bishops are allowed to participate. Meanwhile, the term of office has been set at nine years.
