Literatur und Kritik
The Austrian literary magazine literature and criticism was founded in April 1966 by Rudolf Henz, Gerhard Fritsch, and Paul Kruntorad as the successor magazine of the existing literature since 1955 organ word in time. Profile
Young authors and the recent literature have been given more space in the magazine, as well as the literature of Central and Eastern European countries. Since its inception, literature and criticism Otto Müller Verlag in Salzburg appears, since the nineties in five double issues per year. The literary scholar and specialist in German Klaus Zeyringer it is one of the " most interesting and most substantial literary magazines in the German language ." The circulation of 4,000 (as of 2007 ).
The management of the magazine was first transferred to Jeannie Ebner and then to Kurt Klinger. In 1991, Karl- Markus Gauß the journal as Associate Editor next to the Publishing Director Arno Kleibel as well as editor and designed the new line sheet. Among other things, he introduced the new section Culture Letters, brings the essay and feuilletonist texts with cultural history and cultural history. The information on the literature of Central Europe and the international literary events received greater weight, and succeeded to attract a younger generation of writers on the staff.
The 40 - year anniversary number gives an overview of the published in the first twenty-five years of texts, including by Ilse Aichinger, Ingeborg Bachmann, Italo Calvino, Elias Canetti, Paul Celan, Erich Fried, Alfred Gesswein, Peter Henisch, Mayröcker, Robert Manasseh, Peter Rosei, Peter Turrini, Czeslaw Milosz.
Dossiers
Most numbers of literature and criticism contain dossiers on specific issues or the literature of a selected country. The country files include Moldova, Sorbian literature, Portugal, Ukraine, Guatemala, South Tyrol, Occitan literature, Sinti and Roma, Bulgaria, Yiddish literature.
Culture letters
The section Culture letters was introduced by Karl -Markus Gauss. It contains essays and feuilletonist texts with cultural history and cultural history. Each vintage of literature and criticism takes two to three dozen such letters culture. Authors such as Max's Beyerl, Max Blaeulich, Manfred Chobot, Klaus Ebner, Leopold Federmair, Janko Ferk, Andrea Grill, Drago Jančar, Michael Scharang Wolfgang Sréter, Daniela Strigl, Christian Teissl, Manfred Wieninger have already published cultural essays in the section.
Poetry
Since 2005, the first double each number of a year brings first editions of poetry. It is loud editorial attempts to identify the various forms of contemporary poetry.
Magazine in the magazine
The concept of the magazine in the magazine is an international and enables a literary magazine, present selected texts in translation in a literary magazine of another country. In this way literary texts are not described, but come directly to word. The idea came from a group of authors to the journal Apokalipsa in Ljubljana. The first projects led literature and criticism with sister journals in Slovenia, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland and Croatia together.
Reviews
Reviews of new books are published in each issue. A special feature of the literary magazine, the controversy, shall be printed in two different evaluative reviews of the same book appearance. Well-known German scholars and writers such as Waltraud Anna Mitgutsch, Wendelin Schmidt- Dengler, Daniela Strigl and Klaus Zeyringer already written reviews of literature and criticism.
