Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences ( lt: Lietuvos mokslų akademija (LMA ), s. Lithuanian Academy of Sciences) is a non-governmental Academy of Sciences in Lithuania.
The Academy was founded on 16 January 1941. Founding president was Vincas Krevé - Mickevièius. With legislative changes from the years 1991, 1993 and 2003, the Academy has been fixed as a nongovernmental organization. President since 2003, is Mr Rudzikas.
Structure
The Academy is divided into five classes:
- Agricultural and forestry science class; Director Prof. Albina Kusta
- Biological, medical and Geosciences class; Director Prof. Antanas Vytas Tamošiūnas
- Humanities and Social Science class; Director Prof. Leonardas Sauka
- Mathematical, physical and chemical class; Director Prof. Valdemaras Razumas
- Technical and engineering science class; Director Prof. Vytautas Ostaševičius
There are several independent scientific institutes, laboratories and other scientific institutions. The Academy is a member of the All European Academies.
