Little Switzerland (Luxembourg)
The Luxembourg's Little Switzerland denotes a region in the northeast of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which includes, inter alia, Echternach, Berdorf, Grundhof, Consdorf, Beaufort (French Beaufort) and Müller Valley ( French Mullethal ).
It owes its name to the sandstone rocks which ( Sauer, Black Ernz ) were exposed by running waters, which are very popular for hiking and climbing friends. The area is crossed by the Müllerthal Trail, a rock and stream landscapes accessed in three loops trail of 110 km total length. The Luxembourg Switzerland is part of the German - Luxembourg Nature Park.
LEADER region
The LEADER Mullerthal region includes the eight municipalities of the canton of Echternach ( Echternach, Beaufort, Berdorf, Bech, Consdorf, Mompach, Rosport, forest Cheap ) as well as the surrounding communities Fischbach, Rock, Nommern, Heffingen and Reisdorf.
The population has increased by 50 % over the last forty years, in the municipalities of Beaufort and rock as much as 76%.
