History

Julius sower, a Canadian biochemist and businessman of German descent ( born in Uffenheim, the father and his ancestors came from Ermetzhofen ), created - after a milk driver had complained about the foul smell of spilled milk - in 1951 the Little Trees -called air fresheners made of porous carton. A year later he founded in Watertown in the State of New York, the company Car - Freshner Corporation for the commercial production of air freshener. Today, it has branches in Berlin (New Hampshire) and De Witt ( Iowa).

Operation

The air freshener comes in a plastic sleeve welded. It consists of an absorbent, open-pored felt-like paper that is printed on both sides and impregnated with fragrances and additives. To activate and distribute the fragrances a small part of the shell is removed and the hanger attached. Depending on the size of the opening in the plastic film and of the surrounding air flow, the fragrances are well dispersed in the ambient air. For the uniform odorant delivery into the vehicle interior, the casing should be drawn every week an inch down. Many users see the film envelope but as packaging waste and remove it, contrary to the manufacturer's instructions, complete. So the maximum amount of fragrance is released within a short time, the concentrated odor impression leads to an over-stimulation, and often cause headaches.

Criticism

So-called " air fresheners " cover compared to odor neutralizers only the space smells and can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
