Livingstonia is a town in the northern region of Malawi at the foot of Nyika Plateau, 96 kilometers in a straight line north of Mzuzu. The city of Mzuzu can be achieved by Chitimba of which sits on the shore, at the foot of the mountain, on a paved main road.

In 1894 Dr. Robert Laws and Uriah Chirwa camped on the plateau. They decided to build at this point the mission. Today, the two are for honored at a memorial.

Livingstonia is essentially a mission and a 100 -bed hospital (David Gordon Memorial Hospital), the Scottish church and works closely with its sister mission together in Ekwendeni. It was founded in 1875 by the missionary James Stewart.
