Ljusnarsberg Municipality

Ljusnarsberg is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Örebro County and the historic province of Västmanland. The main town of the municipality is Kopparberg.

Geography

The community is characterized by erzführendes volcanic rock. In the east, the municipality can also find granite. This often torn bedrock is covered by a moraine, growing to the coniferous forest. In the valleys there are frequently Moore. In many places the forest for the mining industry has been cut down, but in the eastern part of the municipality there is a contiguous forest area with many lakes. History

From the Stone Age some residential places are known. The present building dates from the 17th century in connection with the emerging mining and reached its zenith in the 18th century with a large number of mines and workshops. At the beginning of the 20th century, mining was the crucial source of income and in place Bångbro was a large iron plant, which was closed in 1987.

From 1960, the mines were gradually closed down. The last pit of the main town was closed in 1975 and 1978 ended in the last iron ore mine of the community. By 1989, still existed a pit was mined in the scheelite, but after its closure this long-standing industrial tradition was ended.

Economy

Following closure of all mining pits, a company that manufactures fiber products, the largest employer in the community was.
