Locarno–Madonna del Sasso funicular

The Funicular Funicular Locarno Madonna del Sasso ( FLMS ) links the city center of Locarno ( Switzerland ) with the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, which is on a promontory above Locarno in the community Orselina.

History

After connecting to the Ticinese Locarno switchbacks (later Gotthard Railway Company ) in 1874, the union per Locarno e Dintorni was from the city of Locarno President, Francesco Balli, founded with the aim of promoting tourism in the region.

Balli received concessions for various narrow gauge railways in the Locarno.
