Loch Cluanie

Cluanie is an artificial lake in the Scottish Highlands. It is located about 20 km west of Fort Augustus and Loch Ness between Loch Duich in Kintail. Cluanie is about 10 kilometers long and about 800 m wide.

Cluanie is used to generate hydroelectric power. The lake was dammed in the 1950s as part of Glenmoriston Hydroelectric Projects. The dam is 675 m long and 40 m high.

Along the northern shore of the lake leads the well-developed A87. The south bank is accessed by any road. On this page only performs a small access road to Cluanie Lodge. The area around the lake is very popular with walkers.
