Locquirec

Locquirec is a commune in the Finistère département, on the border with the department of Côtes- d'Armor, in Brittany, which is part of the arrondissement of Morlaix. The municipality belongs to the canton of Lanmeur and community association Pays de Morlaix. In Locquirec live 1436 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) to 5.96 square kilometers, the mayor is Joël Le Roc'h ( 2001-2008 ).

Locquirec located on a small peninsula in the Bay of Lannion on the coast of the English Channel, at a height up to 78 meters above sea level. From the point of land on the peninsula, the view over the western part of the Côte de Granit Rose, the coast with reddish granite rock of the island Millau until after Tréduder. To the east of the peninsula, the river Douron, the border river between Finistère and Côtes- d'Armor, the Bay of Locquirec has created.

In the middle of Locquirec there is a church and the marina. Several beaches belong to the community, the harbor beach ( plage du port ), the beach, town center, the beach les Sables Blancs (white beach ) and the beach le Moulin de la Rive ( River Mill).

Formerly Locquirec, which was surrounded by the diocese of Tréguier, an enclave of Lanmeur that belongs to the bishopric of Dol -de -Bretagne.
