Lois (also Loes Loes or ) is by its headwaters at 80 km the longest river in East Timor. It has a catchment area of 2191 km ².

Course

The tributaries of Lois originate in the central highlands of Timor. The largest tributaries are the Talau ( Talaoe, Taipu ), which rises in Indonesian West Timor, the Malibaca ( Mota Malibaca, Mota Malibaka, Rio Malibaca, Rio times Baca, Rio Malibacu, in the upper reaches also Matihaca ), which from the mountains of Fatumean ( district of Cova Lima) is coming and the Marobo, which rises near the village Marobo ( Ermera ).

The Malibaca flows in a northwesterly direction and forms the western border between the district Bobonaro and Indonesia, until he meets the Talau, which forms the southern border river, flowing from west to east. The confluence is now called Nunura ( Larodel or Nunutura, in the upper reaches and loading bay, Beba or Bé - Bai ) and flows right through the middle of Bobonaro. The Marobo forms to further stretch the limits of districts Ermera and Bobonaro, flows first north, then turns to the east. Finally Nunura and Marobo meet and eventually form the Lois. Lois flows eastward along the northern border Bobonaros to Ermera and Liquiçá. On the north coast it flows 20 km southwest of Maubara in the Savu Sea.

The glenoid is a greater inflow after the confluence of Nunura and Marobo which flows along part of the northern border Ermeras and has inflows from Ermera, Liquiçá and Aileu. The Bulobo and its tributaries drain the center of Bobonaro and pour into the Nunura.

The tributary Magapu plunges down a steep wall and thus forms the Bandeira, one of the most famous waterfalls of East Timor.
