Fontanka

The Lomonosov Bridge (Russian Мост Ломоносова ) in Saint Petersburg crosses the Fontanka River. With its towers, the movable bridge was typical of the Petersburg of the 18th century.

The original Tschernyschow bridge was 63 meters long and 14.7 meters wide. It was built from 1785 to 1787. In the 19th century other movable bridges were converted into solid bridges to facilitate the traffic. The Chernyshev Bridge remained unchanged and kept the original look. The movable center section of wood in 1912, replaced by a fixed metal bridge. In 1948, the bridge was renamed after Mikhail Lomonosov.
