Longmont is a city founded in 1871 in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located approximately 50 km north of Denver on St. Vrain Creek. With 86 270 inhabitants, the city is the fourteenth largest in the state of Colorado.

The name Longmont originated from the name of Major Stephen H. Long, who led an expedition in 1820 in the area and the French word " mont " for " mountain".

By 2016 Longmont is under the fast rack - project will be the end point of a new light rail line.
