Lookeen

Lookeen Search is an e- mail and desktop search program of the company Axonic information systems from Karlsruhe. It supports to search for files, emails, contacts and attachments etc. on your own computer, Microsoft Exchange Server and application as well as Terminal Server.

Operation

This is the shareware to an Outlook extension after the Outlook add -on concept. After installing Lookeen Search is automatically integrated into the e -mail client Outlook, and allows for the indexing fast and easy browsing of personal files.

Compared to traditional e- mail client search engines index Lookeen includes the entire folder structure Outlook. So you can browse with the simple Outlook Search only the folders in which you happen to be. The tool from Karlsruhe but recorded in his search all folders, no matter what folder you currently are. Whereby, the search applies only to the index. If this is so not updated, the supposedly new e -mails and attachments are also not considered.

History

The design of the first version closely resembled the email search software Lookout Silicon Valley startups Lookout Lookout Soft Inc. was acquired in 2004 by Microsoft for alleged 6 million U.S. dollars, to then be integrated into the Windows Desktop Search. Lookout itself was still traded as freeware, but was from the Outlook 2007 version no longer or only with considerable modifications to install.

System environment

The software requires in their search to the free project Lucene, the type library Outlook Redemption and the Outlook Object Model.

Supported formats include Microsoft Office documents, text files, PDF files, JPEG files and PST files.

System

The Desktop Search is currently on the operating systems Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7, the latter in both the 32 -, as well as support the 64- bit version. The current version was accompanied by constant delays and is currently in the interaction with Office 2010 still somewhat vulnerable.
