Lorenzo Lauri

Lorenzo Cardinal Lauri (* October 15, 1864 in Rome, Italy, † October 8, 1941 ) was a Vatican diplomat and Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Lorenzo Lauri studied at the Pontifical Roman Seminary in Rome trays Catholic theology and philosophy. He received on June 4, 1887 Sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a lecturer and Officer in Rome. Pope Benedict XV. appointed him Titular Archbishop of Ephesus in 1917 and Internuncio in Peru. The bishop ordained Lorenzo Lauri on January 21, 1917 Cardinal Donato Raffaele Cardinal Sbarretti Tazza.

Lorenzo Lauri 1921 Apostolic Nuncio in Poland. Pope Pius XI. took him on 20 December 1926 as cardinal priest with the titular church of San Pancrazio in the College of Cardinals on, a year later he appointed him Kardinalgroßpönitentiar. Lorenzo Cardinal Lauri took part in the conclave of 1939 and in the same year Camerlengo of Holy Roman Church.

He is buried in the Roman cemetery Campo Verano.
