Lori Fung

Lori Fung, CM, OBC ( born February 21, 1963 in Vancouver ) is a retired Canadian gymnast. It was 1984, the first Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics.

Lori Fung, daughter of a Chinese and a Canadian, began in 1976 at the Bulgarian -born Liliana Dimitrova training. After Lori Fung was ranked number 23 in 1983 is at the World Cup, no one expected even after the Olympic boycott of the Eastern Bloc with the Soviet and Bulgarian gymnasts with Lori Fung. But the decision at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, she won before the Romanian Doina Stăiculescu and Deutsche Regina Weber.

Lori Fung was never able to return to this great success. She ended her active career shortly before the Olympic Games in 1988. As a trainer, she was active in Canada, the United States and in Mexico. In the meantime, she is working in her home British Columbia again.

Lori Fung is married to Dean Methorst and has two sons. In the film Catwoman, she appeared as a ballerina. Lori Fung is a member of the Order of Canada since 1990 and in the Order of British Columbia since 1985. In 2004, she was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.
