Lorrha

Lorrha (also Lorragh, irish Lothra ) is a small village near the River Shannon in the north of County Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland. On the opposite side of the river in County Galway is located about six kilometers west of Lorrha the small town of Portumna.

Also, are remarkable:

  • A church of the Dominicans, founded by Walter de Burgo, Earl of Ulster in 1269.
  • The church still in use of the Protestant Church of Ireland, with some areas of the 13th and 15th centuries. At the cemetery, which is a remnant of the first monastery, the stem residue of an early high cross from the Ossory group found.
