Los Colorados (music group)

Los Colorados (Ukrainian: Лос Колорадос, comes from the Ukrainian translation of the Colorado potato beetle ) is a Ukrainian band, founded in 2006 in Ternopil. The band plays their own songs, but has become better known through cover versions of well-known folk songs and pop songs. The international notoriety they achieved through a cover in polka style of Katy Perry's " Hot'n'Cold ", which was recorded in a regional television studio in the home town of Ternopil and has spread widely on YouTube.

History

The band formed in 2006 in Ternopil and initially played only his own songs in Ukrainian. The notoriety grew when they were invited to a regional TV station, where they performed their songs live. Among other things, they also played a cover version of the popular tracks " Hot'n'Cold " by Katy Perry. The singer Ruslan " Prystupnic " Prystupa could not speak English at the time, so he got into Ukrainian by the transcription of the text of the song.

The peak of popularity reached the band as " Hot'n'Cold " was shown on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The video, which was posted on YouTube, reached almost five million views within a very short time and was very well received in general by the witty and popular interpretation. Katy Perry himself called the version on her blog as " inspirational ".

2012 European Championship

As part of the 2012 European Football Championship Los Colorados has provided the official ZDF Fußballhit. It is a cover version of the popular tracks " I Like to Move It " by Reel 2 Real, who also appeared as a single in May 2012. Furthermore, there will be an entire album of collected cover versions and his own tracks, which will be released worldwide.
