Geography
Location
The municipality is located in the extreme north of the Saarland in Saar- Hunsrück and thus also on the western edge of the Black Forest High Forest.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 918 mm and is in the upper third of the detected by the measuring points of the German Weather Service values . About 79 % indicate lower values. The driest month is April; most rains in December. The wettest month falls about 1.6 times more rainfall than the driest month. The seasonal fluctuations in precipitation are in the middle third. In 55 % of all places in the monthly rainfall varies less.

The municipality is divided into twelve districts Bachem, Bergen, Britten, Bach House, Losheim Mitlosheim, Niederlosheim, Rimlingen, Rissenthal, vaginal, elections and Waldhölzbach.
History
On January 1, 1974, the formerly independent communities Bachem, Bergen, Britten, Bach House, Mitlosheim, Niederlosheim, Rimlingen, Rissenthal, vaginal, elections and Waldhölzbach were incorporated.

Traffic
Losheim has several stations on the railway line the Merzig- Büschfelder railway to Merzig. It is currently operated in freight and tourist traffic.
The municipality is crossed by the B 268 ( Saarbruecken -Trier ) from south - east to north. This also forms bypassing the districts Losheim and Niederlosheim. Of even greater importance is the highway link to Merzig. These courses should in a few years to a main road ( cross connection Merzig and Wadern ) are incremented by one.
Through the municipal area also leads the Oak Street ( by the districts Britten, mountains, vaginal and Waldhölzbach ).
