Lotte (conglomerate)

The K. K. Lotte (Japanese株式会社 ロッテ, Kabushiki - gaisha rotting, Eng. Lotte Co., Ltd. ) Is a multinational corporation that was founded in Tokyo in 1948 by the Korean Shin Kyuk -ho.

After the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea in 1965, the Lotte Confectionery Co., Ltd. was established on April 3, 1967 in Seoul. The company started with the trade of chewing gum in Japan and gradually became the focus to a multinational conglomerate, in the food and petrochemical industries.

The company employs approximately 56 369 people in South Korea, Japan, about 3,600. The company's assets throughout the Lotte Group is estimated at about U.S. $ 50 billion.

Name

The name of the company is neither Japanese nor Korean, but comes from the German. The founder Shin Kyuk -Ho was so impressed by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and especially of his The Sorrows of Young Werther, that he based on Charlotte ( often abbreviated as Lotte ) gave his company the same name.

Lotte World

Lotte World ( 롯데 월드 ) is a theme park in Seoul, which consists in part of a large hall area and an amusement park on an island that is connected by a monorail.

The park was opened July 12, 1989 and is considered the largest indoor park in the world and is visited annually by about eight million people.
