Louie Bickerton

Louie Mildred Bickerton (* 1902 in Clifton Hill, Victoria, Australia; † 6 June 1998) was an Australian tennis player.

Career

Bickerton won three titles in her career in women's doubles and mixed doubles at the Australian Tennis Championships (now the Australian Open ). They celebrated their first success, together with Meryl O'Hara Wood 1927. Two years later, in 1929, she was successful with Daphne Akhurst. The victory in this competition they could repeat in 1931 with Akhurst. Four years later (1935 ) she won the French Christian Boussus the title in mixed doubles.

Bickerton was also friends with Daphne Akhurst Cozens privately until her death in 1933 and married in 1935 Daphne's widower. With him she was until her death 63 years together.
