Louis-François Duplessis de Mornay

Louis -François Duplessis de Mornay ( born September 10, 1663 in Vannes, Brittany, † November 28, 1741 in Paris) was a French Capuchin and third Bishop of Quebec in New France

De Mornay entered the Capuchin Order and was ordained a priest in 1687. On June 22, 1713 he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Quebec and on February 26, 1714 titular bishop of Eumenia. The episcopal ordination he received on the same day by the Bishop of Strasbourg, Armand Gaston Maximilien de Rohan I. Soubise. After the death of Bishop Jean -Baptiste de la Croix de St. Vallier Chevrière he was on December 26, 1727, his successor as Bishop of Quebec. On September 12, 1733 he retired.

Mornay never came to Canada, leaving the administration of the diocese his coadjutor Pierre Hermann Dosquet.
