Louis Janmot

Louis Janmot ( born May 21, 1814 Lyon, † June 1, 1892 ) was a French painter and poet.

Life

Youth and major works in Lyon

Janmot was born the son of a deeply religious Catholic parents. From the death of his brother (1823 ) and his sister (1829 ), he was deeply affected. As students of the Collège Royal de Lyon, he became acquainted with Frédéric Ozanam and other students of the philosophy teacher Abbé Noirot. 1831 Janmot entered the École des Beaux- Arts de Lyon, where he met the Laurier d'Or received the highest honor a year later.
