Louis Philip, Count Palatine of Guttenberg

Ludwig Philipp of the Palatinate- Guttenberg (* November 29, 1577, † October 24, 1601 in Heidelberg), Count Palatine of Veldenz zu Guttenberg.

Life

Louis Philippe was the third son of the Count Palatine Johann Georg I of Veldenz (1543-1592) from his marriage to Anna Maria (1545-1610), daughter of King Gustav I Vasa of Sweden.

Louis Philippe succeeded his father in 1592 after a division of an estate together with his younger brother George John II in the reign Guttenberg. His older brothers Georg and Gustav Johann August received Veldenz or Luetzelstein. Until 1595, Louis Philippe was under the guardianship of his mother and his eldest brother Georg Gustav.

Louis Philippe died unmarried and childless already 23 years old from a serious eye injury he had received in a tournament in Heidelberg, presumably he was also buried in Heidelberg Church of Holy Spirit.
