Louis Pilot

Louis Pilot ( born November 11, 1940 in Esch- sur -Alzette ) is a retired Luxembourgian football player and later coach. The former striker is regarded as one of the most important players Luxembourg brought forth so far.

Playing career

As a 19 -year-old pilot moved from his hometown club CS Fola Esch / Alzette to Belgium Standard Liège. By default, he won the Belgian Championship and two time national Cup four times. In addition, the team was in 1962 in the semi-finals of the European Cup of Champions, where you failed at Real Madrid.

After leaving standard in 1970, he played in the following years for Royal Antwerp and Racing Jet, before 1978 his playing career ended.

For the Luxembourg national pilot denied 1959-1971 a total of 49 matches in which he scored seven goals. He was part of the "big " Luxembourg team that reached the quarter- finals of the European Championship in 1964 and there failed only in a playoff to Denmark.

More career

From 1978 to 1984 pilot coached the Luxembourg national team. He then took over "his" club, Standard Liege, but he coached just one year. Then he coached only the first division Luxembourg Etzella Ettelbrück and Avenir Beggen, before retiring from football.

In 2004, he was the 50th anniversary of UEFA for " Golden Player" Luxembourg, Luxembourg important elected player of the past 50 years.
