Louise Currey

Louise Currey (born McPaul; born January 24, 1969 in Port Kembla, New South Wales ) is a former Australian javelin thrower.

It started as a heptathlete and focused only in the adult area on the javelin.

At the World Athletics Championships 1991, she finished sixth at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona Eleventh.

In 1994, she won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, but resigned a year later at the World Championships in Gothenburg in the qualifier.

In 1996 she celebrated her biggest success by winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. With 65.54 m she had to admit defeat ( 67.94 m) in the Finnish Heli Rantanen.

Two years later she defended her title at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, and at the World Cup in 1999 in Seville, she was fifth.

For the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 it was considered one of the major medal hopes, the host, until they drew upon a serious knee injury in the run. Currey started yet, but resigned in the qualifier and then finished their athletic careers.

1990, 1991, 1993 and 1998, she was Australian champion.

Louise Currey is 1,73 m tall and weighed about 64 kg competition times. She is married to her javelin thrower colleague Andrew Currey.
