Luana DeVol

Luana DeVol ( born November 30, 1942 in San Mateo, California) is an American opera singer (soprano ).

Career

Luana DeVol began in churches and college choirs. Later she was a member of the choir of San Francisco Opera. After further vocal studies at the United States University, San Diego, and among others, the tenor Jess Thomas, she performed as a soloist. She sang at the San Francisco Opera, Seattle and Stuttgart. From 1983 to 1986 she was engaged at the Stadttheater Aachen. In 1986 she became a member of the National Theatre Mannheim. From here, an International career with appearances in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Bologna, Milan, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, and at the Bayreuth Festival and the Salzburg Festival developed. Her repertoire consists mainly of high dramatic soprano roles in operas by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. In the years 1997 and 2000 Luana DeVol was a singer of the year in the Yearbook of the magazine world of opera.
