Luanda Railway

The Luandabahn (Portuguese Caminho de Ferro de Luanda ) runs from the train station in Luanda to Malanje Bungo on a total distance of 424 km with a track width of 1067 mm. The route overcomes a difference in altitude of 1000 meters.

On the way there is a branch line from Zenza do Itombe by Dondo. The 31-kilometer branch line from Canhoca after Golungo Alto with 600 mm gauge is shut down.

For the route 2008, new diesel locomotives and passenger cars from India were delivered. The railway line was built using the Indian company RITES Ltd.. rebuilt after destruction in the Civil War.

The total distance from Luanda to Malanje was released on December 27, 2010 for the operation.
