Lučany nad Nisou

Lučany nad Nisou ( German Wiesenthal Nisou ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers northeast of Jablonec nad Nisou and belongs to Okres Jablonec nad Nisou.

Geography

The city is located on the Lucanska Nisa ( Wiesenthaler Neisse ), a source river the Lusatian Neisse. By Lučany nad Nisou lead the state road 14 and the railway line Liberec Tanvald - Kořenov. Mountain of the resort is the 787 m high Bramberk that rises northwest of Lučany. To the south is the Schwarzenbrunn comb with the 869 m high Cerna Studnice and halfway in Nová Ves nad Nisou the source of the Lusatian Neisse.

History

The first mention of Wiesenthal dates from 1634. Largest employer in the place was the glass works, besides several companies passed the glass jewelry, glass bead and glass knobs produced.

Wiesenthal made ​​from the mid-19th century, a community in the judicial district Jablonec nad Nisou. On 12 July 1894, the first railroad train drove through the Neißetal Jablonec after Wiesenthal and by 10 October of the same year was also the stretch of Wiesenthal over the pass after Tannwald - Schumburg completed, so that the rail could be operated continuously.

1930 lived in the town of 3744 people, of whom the majority were German. After the Second World War was the expulsion, and the place lost its town charter. Since 10 October 2006 Lučany is a city again.
