Lucas Vorsterman

Vorsterman Lucas the Elder ( * 1595 in Antwerp, † 1675) was a Dutch engraver and draftsman.

Life

He worked with Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck. He was one of the most important engravers of Rubens school, whose pictures he, like those of other Dutch and Flemish contemporaries understood reproduce masterful. In 1624, he went to England, where he spent eight years working for Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel and Charles I.
